The in vitro fertilization (IVF) program of the Fertility Specialists of Houston was established in 1984. It is among the largest and most successful in the country. The program provides a comprehensive array of services including intracytoplasmic sperm injection (ICSI) and preimplantation genetic diagnosis (PGD).

Our IVF program treats the most challenging of infertility patients. This includes cases of women with decreased ovarian reserve as well as the most severe cases of male factor infertility.

Once IVF has been chosen by the physician and patient as the appropriate treatment, an individually tailored plan will be made for ovarian stimulation and subsequent fertilization of oocytes (eggs). Patients will be monitored for follicular development (i.e. the development of oocytes inside the ovary) with transvaginal ultrasound examinations and blood hormonal assays to insure a satisfactory and safe response. Patients may choose to have this monitoring at any of the FSH offices. The IVF procedure will be done in our state-of-the-art laboratory located in the Texas Medical Center.

Our physicians and laboratory director have been at the forefront of innovation in IVF. Considered leaders in the field, our doctors and scientists are often called upon to teach and lecture at national meetings. Our experienced nurses work one on one with patients during their IVF cycle which adds a personal touch and helps alleviate anxiety.
